What IS Freemasonry?

A Brotherhood of Man under the Fatherhood of God is the dedication of Freemasonry (or Masonry). The Symbolic use of tools and implements of the ancient architectural craftsmen assist in building a system of instruction for greater character and moral values in its members. The primary purpose is to take good men and make them better.

We are a brotherhood who share bonds of friendship, compassion, and brotherly love that has survived the most divisive political, military, and religious conflicts through the centuries. Our members practice the faith of their personal belief. One of the most fascinating aspects of Masonry is how so many men, from so many different walks of life, can meet together in peace, always conducting their affairs in harmony and friendship and calling each other "Brother."

Who Can Qualify To Join?

Those who wish to join must be of good character and believe in a Supreme Being.

Once they petition a particular Lodge, their request is presented to the Master of the Lodge who appoints a committee to visit the applicant prior to the Lodge balloting upon his petition.

What Do We Do?

The Masonic experience encourages members to become better men, better husbands, better fathers, better citizens. The fraternal bonds formed in the Lodge help build lifelong friendships among men with similar goals and values.

The Masons of North America contribute over two million dollars a day to charitable causes. Much of the assistance are to people who are not Masons. Some of these charities are remarkable projects. The Shrine Masons have one of the largest network of hospitals for burned and crippled children in the United States. There is never a fee for treatment of a child at any of these hospitals.

The Scottish Rite Masons have a network of over 150 Childhood Language Disorder Clinics, Centers, and Programs.

Scholarship programs for students and various local public service programs are some of the projects sponsored by your local Lodge. Masons also enjoy the fellowship of themselves and their families at social and recreational events.

Once A Member........

Lodge members may join Masonically-related organizations outside of the local Lodge. These groups include the Scottish Rite and Shrine among others.

Spouses of Lodge members also have the opportunity to join the Order of the Eastern Star.
